This is the cake I finished for today. It was for a little girl who LOVES Minnie Mouse, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on TV. It’s a little different from the Minnie Mouse cake I made a couple of months ago, but still so cute. The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse scene above and behind the cakes was made from Rice Krispy Treats covered in fondant…fully edible! The letters wishing Jazmyne a Happy Birthday are made from the candy chocolate molds, and are quite tasty themselves!
And one of my favorite touches of all….
I put a sheet of fondant under the Minnie Mouse cake, and ruffled it. Too fun!

Do you ever have grandiose plans…and then when the moment comes–they shrink? Well, that is this cake! Originally Barrett wanted a Shrek cake (or rather, mom wanted to make him a Shrek cake) but as the time I was supposed to be working on this awesome cake was ticking away…I was out enjoying my family. So come Monday morning, the birthday, and I didn’t even have a cake out of the oven!! So single tier…smaller cake…piped on top cake came into existence. Barrett is going as a Ghostbuster for Halloween this year–and I thought it would be fun (mostly easy) to just pipe him the Ghostbuster logo. And ya know what??? He LOVED it more than he ever would have the big, grandiose Shrek cake (which I will make at a later date!!)
Having heard a lot about the combination, this is a banana cake with a peanut butter cream filling. My family members enjoyed it. I wanted more banana and less peanut butter!! But it was a hit with everyone else, especially the birthday boy!

This week is my daughter’s last week of Kindergarten–and what book better epitomizes Kindergarten than Where The Wild Things Are. So in her honor—we recreated Moishe!!

This is the second Minnie Mouse cake I’ve made. When I made the original cake I kind of went crazy on the whole Ebay Minnie Mouse purchases. So I ended up with TONS of Minnie’s, most of which arrived after the birthday party. So this cake was fun to recreate using some of the new ones and some of the duplicates. The best part of this cake, that was missing on the first one—the Minnie Topper! I think she’s AWESOME!
