What made these cakes fun…they were the complete opposite of each other–other than the pink!  One wanted a blond princess with yellow cake and white chocolate buttercream, the other a brunette princess with chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream.

Simple Flowers

This was NOT supposed to look this way. I wanted to either make a Tinkerbell cake or a Shrek cake. You can see by the flowers that Tinkerbell was my choice. But when it came time to adding the cake mushroom to the top, and the fondant Tinkerbells around the side—I really liked the simple design too much to add them. It needs a topper—but I think it’s a pretty cute little ‘change of plans’.

Last year I was at the Hobby Lobby and found these darling, whimsical cake platforms–but they were way too expensive. There were three sizes, the largest was $40.00, medium $30.00 and the smallest was $20. NEVER would I even think of spending this kind of money on cake platforms. But just a few months ago I found them on clearance and paid less than $20 for all three together. How cool is that!

This cake would probably fit into the realm of Mother’s Day, Bridal Shower or a more grown up birthday. In this house—it’s going to be for Father’s Day! So Honey…..Man up!!
