Janiya’s 2nd Birthday

Pink (light & dark) and black fondant cutouts on a white fondant cake.  The top layer sits assymetrical to the bottom and the child’s name is made with candy molds.

Hockey Teddy Bear

I know this will come as quite a shock…but this cake was brought to you by the same boy that brought you the Hockey Puck cake. He is his father’s son!

This again uses my beloved 3D Teddy Bear pan. I told you it’s my favorite! I actually found this cake on the Wilton site and copied it. I find those are my best cakes because I can see what I’m attempting.  Just like the Easter Bunny Cake this one is double piped. It just makes them plushier!

Dolce & Gabbana

Handbags seem to be the new “cake”! They pop up on every cake show and that made me want to try my hand at one. Now, when I first envisioned a purse cake, it had a rigid purse structure–so easy to work with in cake. When we decided to try to copy my niece’s favorite handbag, I stressed over having to stencil the Coach “C” back to front all over the little half moon purse. What I got…far more stressful! A distressed leather Dolce & Gabbana hobo. Super cute purse….super stressful cake!

One of these days…I still wanna try my hand at the half moon Coach…I’ll let’cha know how it goes!

The Castle

The nice thing about this cake…there is NO fondant! Normally I love fondant because it gets nice and smooth, and I did have to work for an hour to get this baby smooth…but I like the effect. It’s one of the more simple cakes (just a 2 layer yellow), but with the added embellishments, it turned out really cute. Especially for a little girl’s 6th birthday party at Libby Lou!

The 2nd (Cooler) Guitar

This cake fits under the category “My mom can do anything!” Not that it’s true, but to my 11 year old…he certainly thought it with this guitar! This wasn’t my first guitar, but it was definitely my best. But even now, after it’s finished I discovered a new fabulous way to make the strings…spaghetti noodles! I tried to pipe the strings for both guitars and you know, it’s just not that easy. Then I watched a cake expert make Elvis’ birthday cake…and he used spaghetti…I LOVE it!
